Journaling

It's my cornerstone habit.

Journaling pen-to-paper is like a melting pot of meditation, reflection, and exploration. Personally, it’s my cornerstone habit.

The way I feel after a meaningful journaling session is like the way I feel after a massage: rejuvenated. It’s particularly those moments of melancholy when journaling is most useful – I dig, find the misalignment, and recalibrate. Oftentimes, this three-step process sparks revelations that help me better understand myself.

And reading prior journal entries is another thing altogether. It’s shocking how quickly we forget so much of who we were even just a few months ago. So much of the ‘micro’ that makes up who we are – the thoughts and feelings on a day-to-day basis – is incredibly fleeting. By reading the past entries, I re-learn who I once was. Relating to a clearer picture of my former self gives me a better sense of who I am today.
